Need a loaner from Apple?
If your iPhone needs a repair and you end up with a loaner, it's about to get better.
As reported by MacRumors, Apple is changing its loaner device from an iPhone 8 to the newer and nicer iPhone XR. According to a memo obtained by the outlet, Apple Stores and Apple's Authorized Service Providers will start offering the newer iPhone as a loaner later this week.
According to the report, the change will occur on Thursday, November 4:
iPhone XR will be available as a loaner starting November 4, which will be an upgrade over the iPhone 8 that Apple currently offers as a loaner. As a one year newer device than the iPhone 8, the iPhone XR has more modern features like Face ID and Dual SIM support, and the iPhone XR also has a newer A12 Bionic chip for faster performance.
Starting on that day, if a customer has an iPhone repair that turns out to be lengthier, Apple or an Authorized Service Provider can offer the customer an iPhone XR as a loaner device.
That will be good news to anyone who has rocked Apple's newer design and had to go back to using an iPhone 8 as a loaner.
iPhone 13
Bottom line: The iPhone 13 is the best iPhone for most people, with impressive new cameras and notable improvements to battery life. Without all the bells and whistles of the Pro line, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are still powerhouses that'll keep owners happy for years to come.
