Madden 24 Release Date & Features: 10 Things to Know is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.
EA’s confirmed the Madden 24 release date and the game is now up for pre-order. Here’s everything you need to know about the game ahead of its arrival.
EA’s working on multiple football games. One is EA College Football though it’s not slated to arrive until 2024. The other is Madden 24, the next installment in the long-running Madden series. It arrives later this year.
With Madden 24 pre-orders live for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and other platforms, we can now outline the important things potential Madden 24 buyers should know about the game.
Table of Contents
In this guide we’ll walk you through what you need to know about Madden 24’s features, cover athlete, launch date, release date, editions, pricing and more.
EA’s announced Madden 24 All-Access and the company will continue to release videos that explore the game’s various modes. Here’s the schedule:
- MUT Deep Dive – Early August
- Superstar Deep Dive – Early August
Look for new Madden 24 videos to drop alongside these deep dives.
Madden 24 Release Date
The Madden 24 release date is confirmed for August 18th. This is the release date for all platforms.
There is also an early Madden 24 release date. If you buy the Deluxe version of the game, you can start playing on August 15th. Same goes for those with an EA Play subscription.
EA Play is $4.99 a month or $29.99 for a year and you save 10% on games and in-game purchases. EA also offers Play Pro which is $14.99 per month or $99.99 for the entire year.

Madden 24 Cover
Madden 22 used two cover athletes: Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and former quarterback Tom Brady. It did something different with Madden 23 and put legendary Hall of Famer John Madden on all of the game’s covers. This year, the cover features just one athlete.
Buffalo Bills star QB Josh Allen appears on the standard and Deluxe versions of Madden 24. Allen is the first Bills player to appear on the cover of the game.
Madden 24 Editions
As of right now, there are three versions of Madden 24: a standard edition, a Deluxe edition and an EA Play Pro edition that’s only available via an EA Play Pro subscription and the EA app.
The standard edition is a no-frills version of the game while the Deluxe edition comes with some extras aimed at players who plan to spend a ton of time playing the game. Note that both games provide Dual Entitlement (PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Xbox Series X/S).
Here’s what you get if you buy the Madden 24 Deluxe edition:
- 4600 Madden Points
- 3 Day Early Access
Those who pre-order the Madden 24 Deluxe edition or EA Play Pro edition by July 22nd will also receive a player item from the AKA Ultimate Team Program.
As for the EA Play Pro edition, you get everything from the Deluxe edition minus the 4600 Madden points. However, you will get 500 Madden points with each monthly login from August 2023 to July 2024.

Madden 24 Pre-Order Bonus
As expected, EA’s provided some enticing pre-order bonuses. These apply to all versions of the game. Here are Madden 24’s pre-order bonuses:
- Josh Allen Elite Player Item
- Choice of 2 Strategy Items
- NFL Marble Bills Gear
These items will be delivered to players when the game arrives in August. For more about Madden 24 pre-orders, have a look at our guide.
Madden 24 Consoles
Unlike some recent games, Madden 24 doesn’t drop support for older consoles.
EA has a long history of supporting older consoles so it will likely be a few more years before Madden skips the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Madden 24 supports the following platforms:
- Xbox Series X
- Xbox Series S
- Xbox One
- Xbox One X
- Xbox One S
- PlayStation 5
- PlayStation 4 Pro
- PlayStation 4
- PlayStation 4 Slim
- Microsoft Windows
The Madden series still hasn’t come to Nintendo Switch and we haven’t heard any news about a release for the portable console in 2023. Barring a huge surprise, don’t expect Madden 24 to land on the Switch.
As a reminder, Madden 24 won’t come to PS3 or Xbox 360 so if you still own one of those consoles you’ll need to upgrade in order to play.
Madden 24 Price
Unsurprisingly, EA is using tiered pricing for Madden 24.
The base version of Madden 24 for Xbox One and PS4 is $69.99, up from $59.99, while the base version for PS5 and Xbox One Series X stays at the usual $69.99.
The Madden 24 Deluxe edition costs more than the base game. The Deluxe edition will run you $99.99 without a deal.
We’ve seen some Madden 24 deals popup already. For instance, those who pre-order Madden 24 through Best Buy will get a $15 e-gift card. And if you have an EA Play account, you’ll be able to save the usual 10%.
It’s also worth noting that Madden 23 players who lost save files will get a 50% discount on a copy of Madden 24.
Madden 24 Features
EA’s confirmed numerous Madden 24 features and here’s a rundown of what we know so far.
According to a report from Insider Gaming, Madden 24 is being looked at as “make or break” for the franchise. So it should come as no surprise to learn that EA’s made some big changes this year.
FieldSense has been improved in Madden 24 though keep in mind, these features are limited to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC:
- Hit Everything 2.0 – Hit Everything expands with new contested catch tackle types that provide more control and tackle variety on defense. Tackle animations are selected more dynamically, which unlocks new and more fluid tackle interactions like Wrap and Scoop tackles.
- Skill-Based Passing 2.0 – Dive for a winning one-hander with improved catching AI, thread the needle with surgical accuracy using new throw animations, and anticipate more authentic defensive reactions with enhanced DB behavior introduced in Skill-Based Passing 2.0.
The company has made improvements to the game’s AI and they include:
- AI Enhancements – Smarter AI enables smoother and more realistic player action and reaction to the plays you call, providing more confidence your AI teammates will execute your game plan the way you intend.
- QB awareness and behavior
- Ball carrier AI and pathfinding
- Blocking AI and open field targeting
- DB awareness & Pass Coverage
- Post Play Emotion enhancements
The game introduces a new feature called Sapien Technology which are “new anatomically accurate NFL player skeletons on PlayStation5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC versions that are more responsive and represent true-to-life player motion.”
You can learn more about all of EA’s gameplay enhancements if you head over to the company’s deep dive. It expands on many of these features and highlights others.
And yes, there is Crossplay support which means you can play against players on other platforms. There are a few caveats you need to know about though.
EA says cross-play will only be available for players on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. If you buy the game for another platform, you’re out of luck.
Cross-play will be available in the following game modes: online Head-to-Head, Madden Ultimate Team, Superstar KO, and Superstar Showdown.
Here are some of the other highlights from Madden 24’s features:
Superstar: The League (PS5/Xbox Series X/S, Windows PC only)

You can also expect upgrades to graphics and performance and EA’s also confirmed some great news for those who plan to play the game on Windows PC.
The Windows PC version of Madden 24 will be on par with the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game. That means better graphics and gameplay.
Madden 24 Ratings
As for the game’s player ratings, EA’s released them on its website and highlights include a 99 rating for Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson and a record seventh appearance in the 99 rating club from Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald.
Donald, who is in the 99 Club for the seventh consecutive year, surpasses quarterback Peyton Manning who was in the 99 Club six times throughout his career.

The mobile version of Madden, while robust, is a toned down version of the game. However, unlike the full blown version of Madden, it’s free to play on these platforms.
