7 Reasons to Wait for the 2021 iPad Pro & 3 Reasons Not To

7 Reasons to Wait for the 2021 iPad Pro & 3 Reasons Not To is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

Apple is reportedly working on a new version of the iPad Pro. And while it initially looked like the new iPad Pro model would launch in late 2020, it now looks like the release will take place in early 2021.

If you’re in the market for a new iPad you’ve got a lot of options.

Apple’s iPad mini 5, iPad Air 3, and 10.2-inch iPad are worth a look if you want solid performance, but don’t want to break the bank. Same goes for the new iPad Air 4 and eighth-gen iPad.

You’ll also want to investigate the 2018 iPad Pros which can still hold their own. They’re also much cheaper than they once were thanks to the 2020 iPad Pro launch.

Last year, Apple released new iPad Pro models with an assortment of upgrades including new processors, a LiDAR Scanner for enhanced AR (Augmented Reality), and better microphones.

Despite these upgrades, the new iPad Pros are more of a refresh than an overhaul and some of you might want to hang around and wait for Apple to make additional changes to the iPad Pro line. Especially now that we’re pushing toward Apple’s first product launch window.

2021 iPad Pro Rumors

Initially it looked like Apple would launch a new flagship iPad Pro model in the fall of 2020. Rumors repeatedly hinted at an arrival in 2020. That didn’t happen and rumors are now telling a much different story.

In April of last year, multiple reports stated that the new iPad Pro’s release had been pushed to 2021 due to the strain the coronavirus outbreak’s put on Apple’s supply chain.

Respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has thrown his weight behind the rumored delay. Kuo, who initially said that we might see multiple iPads launch in the fall, now says these products have probably been pushed into 2021. Kuo is a reliable source who has accurately predicted many Apple launches ahead of time.

According to Jeff Pu, an analyst at Chinese research firm GF Securities, Apple will launch a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED tech in the first quarter of this year. This lines up with Kuo’s timing.

Another a batch of rumors that come from Twitter accounts L0vetodream and choco_dream suggest that Apple is working on multiple iPad Pro models for 2021.

The devices are reportedly codenamed J517 (small model) and J522 (big model) and are set for release sometime in Q1 or Q2 of 2021.

TrendForce believes Apple will launch a new iPad Pro in 2021 with a releasing coming sometime in the first quarter of this year.

Hit-or-miss source Digitimes says Apple’s new 5-nanometer-based A14X processor, which is reportedly on board the new iPad Pro, went into mass production in the fourth quarter of 2020. That points to a launch in 2021.

The publication claims Apple will launch a new iPad Pro with a mini-LED display in the second quarter which means there’s a chance the release date lands sometime after April 1st.

Korean outlet ETNews reports that LG is set to supply Apple with the mini-LED displays for the new iPads. The publication says new iPads will launch in Q1 2021.

Japanese blog Mac Otakara says the new iPad Pro will launch in March and will do so alongside a new iPad mini 6.

Leaker Jon Prosser also believes the iPad Pro launch is still on for March. Prosser also claims Apple will launch its new AirTags in March.

reputable leaker who goes by the alias “Kang” claims Apple’s March event will take place on March 23rd, but the company hasn’t sent out any official information yet. This comes after Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman dismissed rumors hinting at a March 16th launch.

“Kang” also claims the company’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro will outsell the 11-inch model this year which alludes to the 12.9-inch model having something exclusive on board.

A separate report claims Apple will confirm an event on March 23rd with the product announcements coming a bit later in the month on March 30th.

We’ve also seen a purported accessory for a new 11-inch iPad model appear at a Target store. While most iPad Pro rumors have centered around a new 12.9-inch model, Apple could also update the smaller iPad Pro as well.

The person who shared the photo claims the checkout system said the accessory couldn’t be sold until April 6th. And while that might not be the 2021 iPad Pro release date, it certainly fits in with what we’ve heard about the launch.

We don’t know everything about Apple’s rumored 2021 iPad Pro, but rumors have outed a number of potential features including faster data speeds, new display technology, and an improved processor.

These iPad Pro 2021 rumors put those of you in the hunt for a new iPad in a tough position: Upgrade now or wait. While there are some great reasons to buy a new tablet right now, there are also some great reasons to hang around and wait for Apple’s announcements.

In this guide we’ll take you through the best reasons to consider waiting for the rumored 2021 iPad Pro and the best reasons to buy something else.

Wait Because the iPad Pro 2021 Release Date Might Be Close

Wait Because the iPad Pro 2021 Release Date Might Be Close

The 2021 iPad Pro release date is heavily rumored for March or April so if you can wait a few more days, we recommend doing so.

As of right now it looks like the new high-end iPad Pro will arrive on shelves sometime this year. Again, rumors currently point to a release in Q1 or Q2 of 2021.

We don't have an official date yet, but Apple typically launches its first hardware products of the year in March.

That's the first potential iPad Pro launch window and again, multiple reports have put its launch date in March with March 23rd or March 30th looking good right now.

If you're interested in a top-of-the-line iPad Pro, think about holding out for a little while longer.
