Elden Ring: Which Edition to Buy?

Elden Ring: Which Edition to Buy? is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

If you’ve been reading Elden Ring reviews you might be thinking about buying a copy. If you do decide to buy the game, you’ll want to pick the right Elden Ring edition for your interest level and budget and this guide will help you do just that.

FromSoftware’s latest title is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and Windows PC via Steam.

Elden Ring has received extraordinary reviews from critics and gamers alike and it should probably be on your shopping list if you’re hunting for a new game to play on your console or Windows PC.

There are several different Elden Ring editions including a standard version, a Deluxe Edition, a Collector’s Edition, and a Premium Collector’s Edition. Each comes with different bonuses at different price points.

If you decide to buy Elden Ring, you’ll want to pick the right edition. Each edition has its pros and cons. In this guide we’ll walk you through each edition and we’ll also tell you about the key differences between a physical and digital copy of the game.

Elden Ring Standard Edition

The Elden Ring standard edition is the most basic version of the game. For $59.99, or less, you get a copy of the game.

If you don’t want to pay the full $59.99 for a copy of Elden Ring, keep an eye out for deals as we push deeper into the year.

Amazon is currently selling the game for less than $50. Green Man Gaming has taken 13% off the price of a copy of Elden Ring for Windows PC. These aren’t the only deals out there so you’ll want to shop around before you buy.

The standard edition is the most basic version of the game, but it’s also the cheapest. It’s the version most people should buy.

Who should buy the standard Elden Ring edition? Newcomers to FromSoftware games who are interested in the game, but aren’t one hundred percent sure they’ll enjoy it and those who don’t need a ton of extras or collectibles.

You can buy it at various retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Microsoft, and Sony.

Elden Ring Deluxe Edition

If you want a little more from your order, consider buying the Elden Ring Deluxe edition.

The Deluxe Edition is more expensive than the Standard Edition ($79.99 vs. $59.99), but you get some additional extras bundled in including a digital art book and the game’s original soundtrack.

If you love FromSoftware’s art direction and music, spending the extra money might be worth it. You can find it on sale at retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Microsoft and Sony.

Elden Ring Collector’s Edition

Now here’s where things get interesting. There are two other Elden Ring bundles, but they may only appeal to diehard fans of FromSoftware games.

The first one is the Elden Ring Collector’s Edition. The Collector’s Edition comes with a bunch of extras, but it’s also a whopping $189.99. Here’s what that gets you:

  • 9-inch statue of Malenia – Blade of Miquella.
  • Exclusive SteelBook featuring the Elden Ring.
  • 40-page hardcover art book.
  • Digital Soundtrack.

Given its hefty price, this edition should, in most cases, only be bought by collectors and huge fans of FromSoftware games. You can find the Elden Ring Collector’s Edition at retailers like Amazon and Best Buy.

We’ve also put together a guide that will help you track the Elden Ring Collector Edition’s stock at various retailers and it’s worth a look if you don’t want to shell out more than $189.99 for the bundle.

Elden Ring Premium Collector’s Edition

If that’s not enough, there’s also the Elden Ring Premium Collector’s Edition which comes with even more extras. Here’s what the Premium Collector’s Edition includes:

  • Official Malenia helmet replica 1:1 scale.
  • 9-inch statue of Malenia – Blade of Miquella.
  • Exclusive SteelBook featuring the Elden Ring.
  • 40-page hardcover art book.
  • Digital Soundtrack.

In the United States, the Premium Collector’s Edition retails for $259.99. This makes it the most expensive Elden Ring edition by a long shot. It’s also extremely hard to find.

This edition should only be bought by collectors or, perhaps, people with kids who would absolutely love wearing a helmet from the game around the house.

Elden Ring: Digital vs. Physical

Elden Ring comes in physical and digital formats. Here are a few things to consider before you pick one or the other.

If you’re sick of discs cluttering up your house, you should go with a digital version. You’ll also want to go digital if discs sometimes go missing or get damaged in your home.

If you play a lot of different games and don’t want to pull the disc out every time you want to play, go digital. Downloading a digital copy means you’ll have easy access to the game every time you start up your console.

There are also a few reasons to go with a physical copy of Elden Ring.

If you buy a physical copy you’ll be able to sell it to GameStop or a reseller like Craigslist or eBay if you get tired of it down the road.

You’ll also be able to lend your copy out to friends or family members when you decide to move onto another game.

6 Reasons to Wait for the iPhone 14 & 5 Reasons Not To

Wait for a Hole-Punch Design

Wait for a Hole-Punch Design

If you hate Apple's notch, you might be in luck because it looks like the company is making significant changes to the iPhone's design.

Apple didn't eliminate the notch in 2021 but the iPhone 13 series has a smaller notch than the iPhone 12 series and previous iPhone models.

In 2022, Apple will reportedly ditch the notch in favor of a hole-punch display design. The rumor comes from respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He's reiterated this in a newer note though he says the change may be limited to the iPhone 14 Pro models.

Analyst Ross Young believes that while the iPhone 14 Pro models will be the only ones with this new design, the hole-punch design will likely come to all iPhone models in 2023. Young has reiterated this stance in two other reports

Korean publication The Elec backs up these rumors and claims Samsung Display will help with the manufacturing process. Like Kuo, the site says the new design will be limited to the Pro models. ETNews also says Samsung will supply OLED panels for the iPhone 14.

A newer report from The Elec states that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will come with LTPO OLED displays with a hole-punch.

Apple is reportedly evaluating the iPhone 14 series' OLED displays ahead of mass production. If all goes well, mass production will begin in July or August.

If true, it would put the iPhone more in line with Samsung's high-end Galaxy phones which also employ a hole-punch design.

The hole-punch isn't as invasive as the notch which should be music to the ears of those who don't like the notch.

Jon Prosser has shared an image of alleged iPhone 14 Pro schematics and they showcase what the hole-punch could look like.

91Mobiles has shared renders of the alleged iPhone 14 Pro design. The site says these are based on leaked CAD images. They show circular and pill-shaped cutouts replacing the notch.

Leaker @dylandkt suggests the iPhone 14 Pro models will have a pill-shaped camera cutout located at the top of the display.

We've heard the iPhone 14 Pro design has been finalized as supplies have entered the trial production phase of the new iPhone models.

Alleged CAD images of the iPhone 14 Pro Max hint at thinner display bezels. As for the lower-end iPhone 14 models, they're expected to keep the same thickness and bezel size as the iPhone 13 series.

We've also seen renders of the alleged design Apple will deploy on the low-end iPhone 14 models. The renders, from MySmartPrice, hint at a design that's virtually unchanged from the iPhone 13's.

The device in the images has a notch and it also has the same rear camera setup as the iPhone 13.

We've also seen leaked iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max display panels corroborate all of this information.

Apple won a patent for under-display cameras for biometric authentication on the iPhone so it's pretty clear the company is working to get rid of the notch at some point. It's just a matter of when.

If you aren't thrilled with the look of the iPhone 12 or iPhone 13, think about waiting for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
