iPadOS 15 Problems
iPad mini, iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iPad users are complaining about a variety of iPadOS 15 bugs and performance issues including some that appear every time Apple releases new iPadOS software.
The current list of iPadOS 15 problems includes download and installation problems, UI lag, crashes, issues with first and third-party apps, Face ID problems, Wi-Fi issues, and Bluetooth issues.
We expect this list to grow as more people transition from iPadOS 14 to iPadOS 15 and older versions of iPadOS 15 to newer software.
If you haven’t downloaded the latest version of iPadOS 15 yet, we recommend preparing yourself, and your iPad, for the move. A little prep work ahead of time could help you avoid major headaches.
We’ve put together a step-by-step pre-installation process and it will help you get ready for the installation.
iPadOS 15 Performance
If your iPad is running iPadOS 15.0.2 or an older version of iPadOS, and you’re feeling leery about the move to the latest version of iPadOS 15, you’ll want to dig into feedback from those who have made the move to the software.
If you’ve already upgraded your iPad to iPadOS 15.1, you might want to monitor feedback about the update’s performance from other iPad users.
We also recommend digging around on YouTube, Apple’s discussion forums, social media sites like Twitter/Facebook, and the MacRumors forums for additional feedback about the latest iPadOS 15 update’s performance.
How to Fix iPadOS 15 Problems
Before you get in touch with Apple’s customer support, take a look at our list of fixes for the most common software problems.
We’ve also released a list of tips that could help you improve your device’s performance and a guide that will show you how to fix battery life problems.
If you can’t find a fix in those guides, head on over to Apple’s discussion forums. If you don’t find what you’re looking for there, you might want to get in contact with Apple Support via Twitter or via the the company’s website.
If nothing works, you’ll probably want to make an appointment to see a Genius at your local Apple Store.
iPadOS Downgrade
If you can’t stand the iPadOS 15.1 update’s performance on your iPad, note that you can no longer downgrade back to iPadOS 15.0.2.
Unfortunately, Apple has also stopped signing on iPadOS 15.0.1 and iPadOS 15.0 which means you can’t bring your iPad’s software back to those versions of of iPadOS 15.
Apple’s no longer signing on iPadOS 14 or any older versions of iPadOS and that means there’s no way back to those updates either.
For more about how the downgrade process works, take a look at our detailed walkthrough.
What’s Next
If your iPad is struggling right now, help is on the way.
Apple’s confirmed a new version of iPadOS 15 and iPadOS 15.2 is currently in beta ahead of its public release. The company hasn’t confirmed a release date yet, but it should arrive before the end of the year.
If your problems are really bad, you can try downloading the iPadOS 15.2 beta onto your iPad and see if it helps improve your device’s performance.

You can read more about them on Apple's website. Apple's iOS 15.1.1 update for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 doesn't come with any known security upgrades on board. That said, if you missed iOS 15.1, you'll get its security patches when you move your iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 to iOS 15.1.1. If you missed iOS 15.0.2 you'll also get its security patch with your upgrade. You can learn more about it right here. iOS 15.0 also brought numerous security patches to your iPhone. If you'll be moving up from iOS 14 and you're interested in the exact nature of these improvements, you can read about them over on Apple's security website. If you skipped iOS 14.8 or any older versions of iOS, you'll get the security patches from those updates with your iOS 15.1.1/iOS 15.1 update as well. In addition to those patches, iOS 15 comes with some security and privacy upgrades including improvements to Siri. Requests made to Siri are now processed on the device itself using Neural Engine. Apple's also included a built-in authenticator that's similar to Google Authenticator. This will let you generate verification codes for enhanced sign-in security under your Passwords. There's also a Mail feature that hides your IP address. The company will add a new App Privacy report feature in the next version of iOS 15 that will tell you when an app has accessed sensitive information. |
