- Disney+ is the fastest-growing streaming service worldwide.
Disney+ is just clobboring everyone.
Apple TV+, despite being in the streaming wars for two years now, is still struggling to find growth compared to other streaming services like Disney+.
According to new data from JustWatch that was seen by 9to5Mac, Apple's streaming service saw small growth in the last quarter. While Netflix is still the largest streaming service, Disney+ is the fastest-growing streaming service in the world, dominating in 58 out of the 64 active markets.
Apple TV+, in comparison, has grown to 4% market share in the third quarter of 2021 in the United States, up from 3% in the second quarter.
When considering only the US market, Apple TV+ had only 4% of the local market share in Q3 2021. This represents a 1% growth compared to the second quarter, when Apple had only a 3% market share in the video streaming platform segment. Netflix comes in first with more than 30% of the share, while Amazon Prime Video comes in second with 20%.
While Netflix remains the global SVOD market leader, it's Disney+ that has had the most rapid expansion since the beginning of 2020. In 91% of the countries that offer Disney+ or Hotstar, Disney+ has grown the most out of any streaming services in the past two years.
While Apple TV+ growth has seemed small compared to others like Disney+, the service has experienced some major wins with its original content, including hits like "Finch," "Ted Lasso," "Foundation," "Greyhound," and "Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry."
