iPad vs. iPad Air vs iPad Pro vs iPad mini: Which should you buy on Black Friday?
There's no one correct answer for every prospective iPad buyer and a big part of which iPad is right for you will come down to price.
If value is your main buying concern, then the entry-level iPad should be your go-to. The recent update is plenty powerful by today's standards with its A13 Bionic chip and its 10.2-inch display is the perfect size for those wanting to balance portability with screen real estate. Plus, the major upgrade to its front-facing camera, makes talking FaceTime calls or having video chats a breeze thanks to Center Stage.
While the iPad Air 4 is technically the oldest iPad in the current lineup, it got a really big update last year. It's also running the A14 Bionic chip, which provides just oodles of power, and it supports the second-gen Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. It comes in a few great color options, and its regular starting price is $599. It offers a lot of what the iPad Pro has to offer for much less, but you do miss out on the ProMotion display, Face ID, and the LiDAR camera setup.
Of course, the iPad Pro is the top-of-the-line iPad model, and in 2021, Apple added its M1 chip to the iPad Pro, making it insanely powerful and fast. When you add in 5G, Thunderbolt, and up to 2TB of storage, it's easy to see why it's so sought out even if it is expensive.
If you're out to replace your computer and want something that can handle high-end tasks like 4K video editing and Photoshop, or want to future-proof yourself with your next iPad purchase, the iPad Pro is the way to go.
Lastly, the new iPad mini 6 may be small, but with its upgrade this year it became mighty. The redesigned iPad mini now features a design much more akin to the iPad Air 4 with much thinner bezels around the screen. It also features the Touch ID sensor in the power button. Inside, it's powered by the A15 Bionic, which is Apple's latest chip, and it provides so much power that the iPad mini 6 should be able to handle anything you throw at it.
While its regular starting price is now $499, if you want the most portable iPad, the mini cannot be beaten on that front. It makes for a great reading device, and now, it's powerful enough to get some work done when you're out and about as well.
